Administrator Bruce Reeve Photograph

Bruce Reeve is Laboratory Administrator for the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Criminalistics Laboratory. He took over this role in March 2006. Bruce graduated from the University of Iowa in 1984 with a BS in Chemistry. Upon graduation he was employed as a chemist by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment in Topeka, Kansas. Following that, he was employed as a product development and quality assurance chemist for Frye Copysystems and Color Converting Industries, both of Des Moines. He then went on to work for MVTL Laboratories, Inc., in Nevada, Iowa as quality assurance supervisor and later as laboratory manager.

In 1995, Bruce joined the DCI Criminalistics Laboratory as a criminalist in the Drug Identification Section. He served in that capacity until 2000, when he transitioned into the role of Quality Manager for the lab. As Quality Manager, Bruce was involved with efforts to formalize the lab's quality system, leading to accreditation by the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors Laboratory Accreditation Board.

The DCI lab is comprised of a staff of 59, including 45 criminalists, four criminalist supervisors, six evidence technicians, two secretaries, one photographer and the lab administrator. The lab provides forensic science analysis and expertise to all Iowa law enforcement agencies. These forensic science services include processing in the following areas:
