Program Services

The Program Services Bureau supports many sections of the Code of Iowa as well as provides assistance, coordination and instruction for Iowa's law enforcement community as well as the citizens of Iowa by executive order. The following statements are the primary missions of the Program Services Bureau:

• Licenses private investigative, security and bail enforcement agencies (80A of the Code of Iowa).
• Issues weapon permits and adopts rules governing the issuance of these permits (724 of the Code of Iowa).
• Collects and reports crime data from Iowa law enforcement agencies (692.15 and 236.9 of the Code of Iowa).
