Larry L. Noble was appointed Commissioner of the Iowa Department of Public Safety by Governor Terry E. Branstad on January 14, 2011. He is the 21st person to serve as Commissioner of Public Safety since its inception.

The Commissioner's office of the Iowa Department of Public Safety is comprised of four (3) bureaus that provide assistance and support to the divisions and other law enforcement and fire service agencies. They are:

• Governor's Traffic Safety Bureau
• Professional Development & Information Bureau
• Professional Standards Bureau
