FIREMEN'S ASSOCIATION AND FIRE MARSHAL JOIN IN CELEBRATING GENEROUS DONATION

Hy-Vee Truck

Des Moines, IOWA --- Iowa Firemen's Association and State Fire Marshal Division would like to thank the employees at Hy-Vee Inc., for generously donating a semi trailer to the Iowa Firemen's Association (IFA). It's a great thing when the private sector and public sector can come together to make the job of training Iowa's bravest men and women more efficient and more effective," says IFA President Joe Specht.

The State Fire Marshal's Fire Service Training Bureau (FSTB) and the Iowa Firemen's Association have long maintained a close working relationship. As FSTB continued to expand and train more of Iowa's firefighters, IFA recognized the state agency's limited budget and need for additional storage space for hoses, ladders and portable props. The Iowa Firemen's Association contacted Hy-Vee's Transportation Division to see if the company as willing to donated a used semi trailer to IFA for use by the Fire Service Training Bureau. "We were honored to donate the trailer because many firefighters are employees and customers of Hy-Vee," said Fred Housman, Vice President Hy-Vee Inc. "We support the Firemen's Association and Fire Service Training Bureau in their efforts to provide quality training to all heroic firefighters. They unselfishly serve our stores, customers, and citizens of Iowa in crisis situations."

Hy-Vee driver Greg Chandler happily delivered the semi trailer to members of the Iowa Firemen's Association and an enthusiastic Fire Service Training Bureau staff. They're now ready and excited to organize their gear, and with the help of the Hy-Vee semi trailer, continue training twenty-three thousand of Iowa's finest firefighters.

After viewing the trailer, Fire Marshal Jim Kenkel said, "Both Hy-Vee and IFA deserve great thanks for their generous support of the Fire Service Training Bureau. It's really humbling to know so many people are ready and willing to help us do the work we believe is so important in ensuring the safety of all Iowans."
