Iowa State Patrol and AAA Unveil Contacts: |

Everyday public safety officials tell you to buckle up and drive safely. Have you ever wondered why they keep pressing that message out into the public? Well, it’s because unfortunately, nearly every day State Troopers have to see just what happens to drivers and passengers when they’re in a car accident. Now you too can see the devastating effects of a roll-over car accident. The Iowa-Minnesota AAA has graciously donated a Roll-Over Simulator to the Iowa State Patrol. And at Trooper Day at the Iowa State Fair, State Patrol Safety Education Officers offer demonstrations to passers-by in an effort to remind everyone to buckle up and drive safely! What: First Demonstrations of New Roll-Over Simulator Where: Grand Concourse, Iowa State Fair When: Thursday, August 9, 2007
The roll-over simulator is a Ranger Pickup cab placed on a hydraulic lift atop a trailer. Officers with the Iowa State Patrol, place 60-80 pound dummies in the cab, and then begin the simulation. The cab rattles, shakes and spins to demonstrate exactly what can happen to passengers when unrestrained in a roll-over accident. |
