MAN IDENTIFIED IN WATERLOO OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING INCIDENT, AUTOPSY COMPLETE |

Waterloo, IOWA --- The man shot during a struggle with two Waterloo Police officers has been identified as Eric Rule, 31, from Waterloo. On Sunday, September 13, 2009, the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny, Iowa, conducted an autopsy. The Medical Examiner determined the manner of death was homicide and the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds. On Saturday, September 12, 2009, at 2:18 a.m., Waterloo Police officers were sent to 611 Keystone Street on the report of a domestic dispute between a male and a female. Shortly after the officers arrived, a struggle ensued between the male subject and the two officers. When attempts by officers to get Eric Rule under control failed, a Waterloo Police Officer shot him. The officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation has been called in to investigate this incident. |
