Des Moines, IOWA --- The Iowa Law Enforcement Intelligence Network (LEIN) is celebrating 25 years of cooperative criminal information sharing and cross jurisdictional community policing. To celebrate this great milestone, nearly 250 law enforcement officers from across the state are gathering in Des Moines this week for the annual LEIN Conference. Officers will hear lectures on current terrorism threats in the Midwest, new strategies in recovering missing children, the biomechanics of use of force scenarios for law enforcement, and narco terrorism, to name a few.
LEIN serves as a mechanism for the statewide collection and exchange of criminal intelligence information. There are more than 1,000 LEIN members who submit information reports to the Department’s Intelligence Fusion Center, which in turn disseminates the information to participating agencies throughout the state. These agencies then use the information to prevent and solve crime in their area. |
