ISP RELEASES STORM RESPONSE NUMBERS

Des Moines, IOWA --- Today, the Iowa State Patrol Division released the number of phone calls answered by communication specialists at the six communication centers across the state, and the number of crashes Troopers responded to beginning Wednesday, January 6, 2010 through Friday, January 8, 2010, at 10:00 a.m.

January 6, 2010:

  • State Radio answered 1,103 calls.
  • Iowa State Troopers responded to 19 crashes.

January 7, 2010:

  • State Radio answered 1,856 calls.
  • Iowa State Troopers responded to 36 crashes

January 8, 2010:

  • State Radio answered 433 calls.
  • Iowa State Troopers responded to 8 crashes (from midnight until 10:00 a.m.).
That's a total of 3,392 calls for this winter storm event. Troopers responded to a total of 63 crashes. Two of the 63 accidents were fatalities. Statewide approximately 400 motorists were assisted. The ISP continues to encourage motorists to use extra caution when driving on Iowa's roadways.
