Des Moines, IOWA --- The Iowa Department of Public Safety will hold a bone marrow donor registration drive and pancake breakfast on Wednesday, May 26, 2010. The DPS family has two people in need of bone marrow donations. Donors must be between the ages of 18 and 60 and in good health.

The bone marrow drive is sponsored by the Iowa Marrow Donor Program at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and Be The Match Registry. The process is as simple as filling out a form and using a cheek swab. No donor is asked to pay to join the registry, however, there is a cost of $52 to process the tissue. DPS is holding a pancake breakfast ($5 per person) to help defray the cost of processing tissue. Donations are welcome and tax deductible. Make checks payable to the Iowa Marrow Donor Program.

Members of the Des Moines Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, are also participating by volunteering at the event and making a financial contribution to the Iowa Marrow Donor Program.
