ISP REQUESTS PUBLIC HELP IN DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE CAR BURGLARY

Des Moines, IOWA --- The Iowa State Patrol is requesting assistance from members of the public to help identify several people believed to have information in a car burglary resulting in the theft of state government property that occurred on Thursday, July 22, 2010, on the Capitol Complex.  

On the morning of July 22, 2010, the District 16 offices of the Iowa State Patrol were notified of a suspected car burglary at a State of Iowa parking garage located on the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and East Grand Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa.  Upon arrival, the responding Trooper did discover two vehicles had been burglarized.  One of these is a state owned vehicle being use by an employee of the Department of Agriculture.  Among other items, government paperwork and a laptop computer were stolen.  These items each may contain personally identifying information such as name, address and social security number for the 3,404 Iowans who participate in the Iowa Horse and Dog Breeding Program.

With the assistance of the Urbandale Police Department, the Iowa State Patrol has recovered surveillance video of two people believed to have information on the car burglary.  Video obtained from an Urbandale Kum & Go Convenience Store shows a woman who is approximately 5’6” to 5’8” tall and weighs 120-130lbs.  She has blond hair.  The woman is accompanied by a man who is approximately 6’ to 6’2” and weighs 180-200 lbs.  He has short, dark hair.  Both are in their mid-twenties to late twenties.   If you have any information regarding the car burglary or the individuals in the surveillance photos, please call Polk County Crime Stoppers at 515-223-1400.  Crime Stoppers will offer a reward up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of any involved parties.
