Des Moines, IOWA --- Today charges were filed against four inmates currently serving time at the Clarinda Correctional Facility. The charges stem from their role in an assault, resulting in the death of inmate Alfred Eugene Myre, age 44, on June 14, 2010. The following four inmates are charged with Murder in the Second Degree, a Class “B” Felony. Click on each inmate’s name to view the complaint and affidavit.
Myre was serving a fifty year prison sentence for Murder in the Second Degree from Pottawattamie County. This sentence began on September 5, 1991. Myre was transferred to the Clarinda Facility on May 14, 2010. He was found dead by a correctional employee on June 14, 2010 in the yard area of the Clarinda Correctional Facility. The results of an autopsy performed on June 15, 2010, at the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny, Iowa, show that Myre died from an assault. Myre had numerous internal injuries including a ruptured spleen, which was fatal. The four inmates charged are currently being held at the Clarinda Correctional Facility. It should be noted a criminal charge is merely an accusation and all suspects are considered innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law. |
