MORE DETAILS RELEASED IN LAKE PARK SHOOTING

Lake Park, IOWA --- Today, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation released additional information into the shooting of a six year old girl on Sunday, August 15, 2010.

The girl has been identified as Ashlyn Marie Nitzschke of Lake Park. She was injured inside a residence located at 314 6th Street in Lake Park and air lifted to Avera McKennen Hospital in Sioux Falls. She was treated and released from the hospital.

INFORMATION RELEASED ON AUGUST 16, 2010

On Sunday afternoon, August 15, 2010, officers from the Lake Park Police Department and the Dickinson County Sheriff's Office responded to a request for emergency assistance at 314 6th Street in Lake Park.

First responders found a six year old injured with a gunshot wound. The child was taken by air ambulance to Avera McKennen Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation was contacted for assistance and is conducting an investigation into the incident. Law Enforcement is not actively seeking an unknown assailant and has identified an individual believed responsible for causing the injury. Additional information will not be released at this time because the investigation is ongoing.
