Guthrie County, IOWA --- At approximately 8:00 a.m., today, Wednesday, November 3, 2010, the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office received an emergency call indicating there was a man lying in the ditch with injuries.  Upon arrival at 330th and Indigo in rural Guthrie County, near the Adair-Casey High School, officers did find an adult male who had sustained serious injuries.  The subject was immediately transported to a Des Moines area hospital, where his injuries were later determined to be non-life threatening.

Due to the nature of the man’s injuries and the circumstances surrounding this incident, the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).  As the two agencies continue to investigate, neither the identity of the injured subject, nor the nature of his injuries are being released at this time.  Out of concern for the community however, law enforcement would like to assure parents and students that no student was ever in danger, or was injured or involved in this incident.

Also assisting in the investigation are the Iowa State Patrol, Altoona Police Department and the Stuart Police Department.

Note: A criminal charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
