Guthrie County, IOWA --- Today the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is releasing more details surrounding the discovery of a seriously injured adult male yesterday, November 3, 2010, near the Adair-Casey High School.  The injured subject has been identified as 59 year old Robert Zimmer of Altoona, Iowa.

At approximately 8:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 3, 2010, the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office received an emergency call indicating there was a man lying in the ditch with injuries.  Upon arrival at 330th and Indigo in rural Guthrie County, near the Adair-Casey High School, officers did find Zimmer who had sustained several cuts to the neck.  Zimmer was immediately transported to a Des Moines area hospital, where his injuries were later determined to be non-life threatening.

Through the course of a day and half long investigation, agents and deputies have determined that Zimmer’s injuries were self-inflicted.  No other person was involved in this incident.

Out of concern for the community law enforcement would like to assure parents and students that no student was ever in danger, or was injured or involved in this incident.

This investigation was a cooperative effort between the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Altoona Police Department and the Stuart Police Department.
