DCI INVESTIGATES CHILD DEATH CASE

Eagle Grove, IOWA --- On Friday, January 7, 2011, emergency personnel were called to 208 North Wright Avenue in Eagle Grove with a report of an unresponsive child.  Mikayla Valentine, age 5, was taken by air ambulance to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She was pronounced dead at approximately 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011.  Today, Monday, January 10, 2011, an autopsy is scheduled to be performed at the Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office.

A criminal investigation into the child’s death is being conducted by the Eagle Grove Police Department, Wright County Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
