DEADLINE APPROACHING FOR |

Des Moines, IOWA --- The Office of the Governor and the Iowa State Patrol encourage Iowans, who have seen or experienced an act of heroism first hand, to nominate a deserving individual for a Governor’s Lifesaving Award. The deadline to submit nominations is April 15, 2011. The incident must have occurred between January 1, 2010 and April 15, 2011. All nominations must be received by April 15, 2011. However, other incidents not occurring within this time period may be eligible for an Outstanding Service Award. The Governor’s Lifesaving Award Program was begun in the 1970’s to recognize the extraordinary individuals who work and live among us. Since 1996, more than 400 deserving Iowans have received this prestigious award at a ceremony hosted by the Governor at the Iowa State Fair. The three types of awards are as follows:
To nominate a deserving individual before the April 15th deadline, fill out and submit the application found at www.dps.state.ia.us/commis/pib/Awards/awards.shtml or call (515) 725-6100 to request an application be mailed to you. |
