ARREST MADE IN FEBRUARY FATALITY CRASH |

Sioux City, IOWA --- On February 21, 2011, Mary Hughes (17 yoa, Salix) was killed in a head-on vehicle crash on I-29 northbound near the 131 mile marker. Mary Hughes was operating a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero and was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of travel. Mary Hughes collided with a 2011 Chevrolet Pickup being driven by Ryan Marx (23 yoa, Sioux City). Mary Hughes was killed in the collision. Ryan Marx suffered minor injuries. Mary Hughes's blood alcohol content was .238. Iowa State Patrol Troopers investigated the crash and learned the alcohol consumed by Mary Hughes prior to her death had been purchased and supplied by Robin "Tony" Armfield (26 yoa, Hornick). On April 6, 2011 an arrest warrant was obtained for Robin Armfield and Woodbury Co Deputies arrested Robin Armfield at his residence. Robin Armfield was booked into the Woodbury County Jail on the charge of Supplying Alcohol to a Minor Causing Death, a Class D Felony $25,000 bond. Woodbury County Sheriff's Office assisted with the investigation. |
