Update: DCI Investigating Officer Involved Shooting in Nevada

Nevada, IOWA --- Early this morning, Sunday, April 10, 2011, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) was called to assist in conducting an investigation into an officer involved shooting in Nevada, Iowa.

On April 10, 2011, at 2:55 AM, a Nevada Police Department officer responded to a 911 call from 637 7th Street, Nevada, Iowa.

The responding Nevada officer had contact with an adult male inside the home. During the contact, the Nevada officer fired his weapon, striking and killing the male. The officer was unharmed.

The investigation is ongoing. The name of the officer and the deceased male will be released later today.
