DPS to Celebrate Special Olympics Iowa

Des Moines, IOWA --- Law enforcement agencies across Iowa and the United States will take time to recognize the extraordinary efforts and achievements of the athletes of Special Olympics. To kick off the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, the Iowa Department of Public Safety will hold a reception at the DPS Building where staff will hear a special message from Special Olympics athlete Mike Warren from Marshalltown, Iowa.

A check will be presented to Special Olympics Iowa from law enforcement.

Both the DPS reception and the law enforcement torch run coincide with the beginning of the Special Olympics Iowa Summer Games which run May 26-28, 2011. The Final Leg Torch Run begins at 12:00 PM at Nollen Plaza in downtown Des Moines.
