DCI Agents and ISP Troopers Arrest former Bremer County Jail Administrator

Bremer County, IOWA --- Today, agents with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and Troopers with the Iowa State Patrol (ISP) arrested 31 year old Jeremy Eberhart of Sumner, Iowa.  Eberhart was charged with Theft in the 1st Degree, a Class C Felony and Felonious Misconduct in Office, a Class D Felony.
On March 17th, 2011 the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office requested DCI assistance on an investigation into missing funds from the Bremer County Jail.  According to the criminal complaint, DCI agents and the Iowa State Auditor’s Office determined that Jeremy Eberhart took cash from the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office, Room and Board Account, totaling $12,507 during the time frame of April 2009 to March 17th, 2011. 

Eberhart has been booked into the Bremer County Jail. He is being held on a $15,000 cash only bond.
