More Information Released in Oelwein Case

Oelwein, IOWA--  Abel Quijas Jr., of 145 7th Street North in Maynard, Iowa, has been returned to custody at the Fayette County Jail after being treated at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics over the past weekend for a gunshot wound to the arm. 

Quijas was injured on September 11th, 2014, when two police officers attempted to arrest Quijas at 210 1st St. SE in Oelwein, Iowa, as the result of an on-going narcotics investigation.  Quijas attempted to flee with an officer partially inside his vehicle and attempted to strike another officer.  Quijas has been charged with one count of Attempted Murder.

No further information will be released from the Iowa Department of Public Safety.
