Iowa GTSB Kicks Off Pedestrian Fatality Campaign in Sioux City

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Iowa Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau (GTSB), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the city of Sioux City are partnering to raise awareness about pedestrian fatalities. A press conference will be held to announce the new initiative that will begin in Sioux City.

Overall, pedestrians in America represent 14-percent of all traffic fatalities. In Sioux City, there were a total of 132 pedestrian crashes from 2009-2013, resulting in 8 deaths and 116 injuries.
