Update #2: Coralville Mall Shooting

CORALVILLE, Iowa – The Iowa Department of Public Safety (DPS) is able to confirm that there was one fatality as a result of the shooting at the Coral Ridge Mall in Coralville, Iowa.  Federal, state and local law enforcement do not have reason to believe that there were other injuries as a result of the shooting.

The fatally wounded victim is female. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of family. Her identity will not be released this evening by Iowa DPS.

The suspect was stopped and arrested on Interstate 80 near Highway 61 by Iowa State Patrol along with Scott County Sheriff’s deputies. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Based on the facts available to law enforcement from federal, state and local agencies, there is no reason to believe there are other suspects. Iowa DPS wishes to inform the Coralville, Iowa City, North Liberty, Cedar Rapids and surrounding communities that there is no reason to believe there is any threat of further danger related to the situation at Coral Ridge Mall.

Due to the fluidity of the situation, further information is not available at this time.

Iowa DPS does not plan to release further information this evening.
