Subject Identified in Bettendorf Shooting

BETTENDORF, Iowa -- As previously mentioned, on December 19, 2016, the Bettendorf Police Department responded to a disturbance at Home Depot located at 920 Middle Road in Bettendorf.  Upon arrival, they confronted a subject who was in possession of a handgun.  That individual has been identified as Joshua G Price, 19, of Bettendorf.  Price sustained gunshot wounds and remains hospitalized with what are believed as non-life-threatening injuries. 

Additionally, it was first reported Price was in possession of a handgun.  Throughout the course of the investigation, it has been discovered that Price was in possession of a soft-air gun, very similar in appearance to a handgun.  Furthermore, Price presented suicidal tendencies in front of the responding officers.

An interview of the officer will be conducted in the immediate future, and once completed, additional information will be provided.  The investigation remains ongoing.

BETTENDORF: On Monday, December 19 at approximately 11:35 p.m. officers responded to Home Depot, 920 Middle Road, Bettendorf due to a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers engaged an individual who was armed with a handgun. The subject received injuries from being shot. He was transported to a local hospital and then was transported by MedForce to University Hospital in Iowa City. The Bettendorf Police Department has requested the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation to assist with the investigation.

No officers or employees of Home Depot were harmed or injured in the incident.

The officer’s name will not be released until DCI has had an opportunity to conduct an interview.

The subject’s name will be released pending notification of the family.

The officer has been placed on administrative leave per departmental policy.

Assisting with the investigation is Davenport Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, and Scott County Attorney’s Office.
