OFFICER FELIX A. BARTA
Officer Barta was shot and killed Wednesday, February 15, 1961, while responding to a domestic disturbance. After shooting Officer Barta, the suspect shot his ex-girlfriend and then committed suicide.
Officer Barta served with the Cedar Rapids Police Department for 18 years. He was survived by his wife and two children and was 52 years old.
