Patrolman Binegar was injured Saturday, August 28, 1948, when he was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic at the scene of an accident. Patrolman Binegar succumbed to his injuries Sunday, August 29, 1948.

Patrolman Bingar served with the Grinnel Police Department for 5 days at the time of the accident. Patrolman Binegar was 23 years old.
