Floyd County Sheriff's Office Patch

Deputy Levi Bowers

Floyd County Deputy Levi Bowers responded to a report of gunfire in the city of Rockford, Iowa on February 24, 1916.  The suspect had reportedly fled to a residence after attempting to kill the local physician. When Deputy Bowers located the suspect, he shot Deputy Bowers.  In the confrontation, Deputy Bowers was able to discharge his weapon, striking the suspect. Regrettably, Deputy Bowers later died of his gunshot wounds.

At the time of his death, Deputy Bowers left behind a wife and two young children.
