Officer Loucks died of a heart attack Saturday, December 25, 1954, when the juvenile he arrested for creating a disturbance after being refused service at a bar in Stuart where he was trying to buy beer, resisted arrest while he was being taken to jail. Officer Loucks suffered a heart attack during the ensuing struggle.

Officer Loucks was a police officer for the city of Stuart and was 51 years old.
