Important Dates and Hiring Information

The Iowa Department of Public Safety is preparing to host its 35th Basic Academy beginning in November 2010. At this time the Department plans to hire qualified applicants to fill the following positions:

• Special Agent I (Division of Criminal Investigation - Gaming)
• Trooper I (Iowa State Patrol Division - District 16/Capitol Complex)
• Fire Inspector (State Fire Marshal Division).

Qualified applicants will be provided locations, dates and times for testing upon successful registration. Testing dates are listed below:

• Physical Fitness and Written Exam - July 7, 8, 12, 13, & 14, 2010
• Oral Board - July 19-23, 2010
• Polygraph - August 9 - September 3, 2010
• Medical/Psychological Examination - August 16 - September 10, 2010
• Background Investigation - September 20 - October 8, 2010
• Final Offers Announced - November 1, 2010
• Academy Orientation - November 19, 2010
• Academy Start Date - November 29, 2010
• Academy Graduation - April 22, 2011
