Recruitment Information
The Iowa Department of Public Safety is organized to provide law enforcement services to the people of Iowa in cooperation with the 99 county sheriff's offices and over 400 municipal police and fire departments. Entry level law enforcement opportunities with DPS include performing traffic enforcement with the Iowa State Patrol Division, providing security and protection for the state capitol and VIP's with the State Police (Capitol Complex), arson investigations with the State Fire Marshal Division, undercover drug investiations and operations with the Division of Narcotics Enforcement or casino gaming enforcement on Iowa's many riverboats with the Division of Criminal Investigation.
