ED Thomas Law - Iowa Code Section 229.22

Effective July 1, 2010, Iowa Code Section 229.22, as amended by SF 2352, requires notification of a specified law enforcement agency prior to discharge of a patient brought to a hospital or facility for emergency mental health treatment by a law enforcement agency for whom an arret warrant has been issued or charges are pending. The new law provides that DPS must develop a form for law enforcement to use when requesting notification.
