Iowa Code section 103A.14 creates the Building Code Advisory Council. The Council is a seven member body appointed by the Governor. Members are appointed to staggered four year terms. The Council is charged with several responsibilities, including:
A second group, the Board of Review, consists of three members of the Council appointed by the Building Code Commissioner. The Board of Review hears appeals from decisions of any state agency, including the Building Code Commissioner, or local building departments, when those decisions are made pursuant to the State Building Code. |
