In 2008, the Iowa General Assembly enacted legislation creating the Commission on Energy Efficiency Standards and Practices. The Commission, which has a two-year life and is scheduled to deliver its final report by January 1, 2011, is charged with evaluating and reporting on current energy efficiency standards applicable to existing and new residential, commercial, and industrial buildings and making recommendations for improving those standards and their enforcement; recommendations for new energy efficiency standards applicable to new construction; recommendations for adoption of a statewide energy efficiency building labeling or rating system. The Commission is chaired by Building Code Commissioner Stuart Crine and inlcudes a representative of the Iowa Office of Energy Independence appointed by the Director of that office, and 11 other members, representing designated stakeholder groups and appointed by Commissioner Crine. |
