National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS)

The State Fire Marshal Office and ImageTrend have finalized the implementation process of the web based reporting system Iowa Fire Bridge.  We are now online and ready to start setting up Iowa Fire Departments!  There is no cost to Fire Departments to use the program and departments do have the option to continue with their current software program.

To get your department set up, you will need to designate at least one Fire Department Administrator from your department.  (It is possible to have more than one Fire Department Administrator, but ask that you limit it to no more than 2-3 per department.)  To set up your Fire Department Administrator, please fill out and submit the following form:

Fire Department Administrator Application Form

Once your department has a Fire Department Administrator, that individual will be in charge of setting up additional members of your fire department with access and permissions.  Click here to view Department Permission Groups.

New GraphicPast NFIRS Reports - Completed!

We have completed the import process for uploading all past reports submitted by Iowa Fire Departments to the state or federal level.  We ask that you use the Run History search option to view your past years reports to ensure they are in your department’s account.  If you notice a gap in reports, but still have your reports on another software system, you can follow the directions below for importing your reports into Iowa Fire Bridge.

NFIRS Training

To assist with the implementation of Iowa Fire Bridge, the Fire Service Training Bureau, along with community colleges in your area, will be holding trainings/information sessions across the state to assist Iowa Fire Departments in becoming familiar with Fire Bridge software.

In order to hold a training session in your area, we are requesting that fire departments find 3-4 fire departments in their area that would be interested in Fire Bridge Training. Please contact Alicia Ver Huel (contact info below) with a list of interested departments and possible computers available.

NFIRS Training Schedule

Check back often as we are continually adding more sites.

(Only departments that will not be switching their whole department to Fire Bridge will need to be concerned with submission procedures to the state. All users of Fire Bridge will have their reports automatically submitted to the state level.)
